“Words cannot convey the value of yoga. It has to be experienced.”
New to yoga or returning to yoga after a couple of years? This is the place to begin or begin again. We will practice the core poses of yoga emphasizing physical alignment and mind/body/breath awareness. This class includes fundamental standing, seated, and supine poses.
These classes are an active practice of the core poses of Iyengar yoga: standing poses, seated forward bends and twists, balancings, supine twists, abdominal poses, and basic inversions. This is for students who've taken the Introductory classes or taken classes elsewhere.
This class is for continuing students who've been practicing 2+ years. The fundamental Iyengar principles of alignment are taught in standing poses, seated twists, forward extensions and backbends. Shoulderstand is taught.
This class is for students who've been practicing yoga for 3+ years and can do shoulderstand independently and headstand with wall support. We'll practice advanced forward extensions, twists, backbends, arm balances, and inversion variations.
This class is for experienced teachers from different traditions to learn Iyengar teaching principles while practicing together. Please call me at 843-340-YOGA (9642) to confirm.
I love the classes at Live Oak Yoga. Karyl provides a calm, supportive presence. In private classes Karyl taught me asanas that reduced my joint and back pain and also poses to ease digestive discomfort. During treatment for breast cancer, the restorative yoga she taught me minimized not only the side effects of chemotherapy, but also gave me a vehicle with which to nurture myself.
